Assoc Prof Gavin Tan is a Senior Consultant in the Surgical Retinal Department at Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), a clinician-scientist at Singapore Eye Research Institute and the Clinical Director of SNEC Ocular Reading Centre (SORC), a leading image-grading centre in Asia that performs centralised grading for the national diabetic screening programme in Singapore – Singapore Integrated Diabetic Retinopathy Programme (SIDRP). He also co-heads the Ophthalmic Imaging Department at SNEC and is lead for diabetic complications at SingHealth Duke-NUS Diabetes Centre.
Assoc Prof Tan’s research interests are in diabetic retinopathy, AMD, intraocular tumours, retinal detachments and pediatric vitreoretinal diseases. He has been awarded multiple competitive grants and has participated in clinical trials for diabetic macular edema. He has published more than 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented over 30 papers in local and overseas meetings.
